Why do people do this... Grrrr...

I've always encouraged my kids to get involved and being being single sometimes have to juggle things around. Not that I mind as I don't want them being couch potatoes! I am lucky I have a supportive family and they will help out where they can. I have to therefore be organised to make sure they have someone to collect and drop them off.

Dd2 always gets brought home by another parent from a club tonight. It's not far but all the same. Anyway tens mins after club ends she's not here. Instinct takes over and I go to find her. Other parent has not collected her and I feel like an idiot as though my fault. Aparently they just left without her. Luckily another friends mum was waiting with her. I feel quite hurt and let down by the other parent as I would never do this to someone. Why do people do this?

    Ignorance, bad memory?

Very strange though. Have they been in contact lately?

The only way to really know what happened is to ask the person who normally collects. Did you contact them when you got back from collecting your daughter?

I'd be very surprised if it was deliberate, probably just absent mindedness.

Have you actually asked the person why they didn't bring your daughter home?

I would ask the other parent who was meant to be collecting her, could be one of many reasons.

It happened to my son once, that's because he had been off school ill and the mum assumed he was off also the following day. Not the end of the world.

Why are you assuming it was intentional?

I certainly wouldn't be jumping to conclusions, especially if this other parent has been good enough to bring your child home for over a year...

Whilst it's not ideal, you don't know the circumstances, as others have suggested, it could merely be absentmindedness, or the other parent/family could have had some kind of emergency and/or had to send someone else in their place and forgotten to mention your arrangement.
