Why have I only just heard of this game?? Has anybody played it before? I've just seen that the first game is only available on the PC and I'm not much of a PC gamer, so I'm looking at getting number 2. Looks like a mixture of Skyrim, assassins creed and zelda to me (from the trailer for number 3).

The original is 7 years old now so I can't imagine why it is that you haven't at least heard of it. It really isn't anything like Assassin's Creed or Zelda, both of which give you more precise control over characters. It's an action RPG where you develop the skills and abilities of your character over time. Skyrim is a good comparator if you've played that, albeit the Witcher is in third person and so controls differently. It's more akin to Demon's/Dark Souls if you've played any games in that series, though not as crushingly difficult.
It's a cracking game series, though. If you do like Skyrim you'll probably like this series too. The Witcher 3 does look pretty incredible; the recent trailer was stunning."MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE? IF WORD GETS OUT THATI'M MISSING FIVE HUNDRED GIRLS WILL KILL THEMSELVES."0 -
Im currently playing Witcher 2, So far a fantastic game, with amazing visuals, although i get the impression you need a fairly beasty machine to get the best out of it!0

i recently bought the first game and i wasn't impressed. i didn't like the combat system. you don't do anything except wait for orange swirls to show on the screen and click the mouse at the right time to perform the attacks. you also cannot move your character around while doing this.
that was enough to put me right off. played about 20 mins and gave up and uninstalled it. sorry to be negative, just how i felt about the game.
im sure witcher 2 is miles better and is a better game to start the series with now. lots of people have told me witcher 2 is excellent and witcher 3 looks to be very promising as well.0 -
Do you think that it's better played on the computer or on the 360? I have a 360 to hand, but would either have to dig out my laptop or use my brother's comp for it if I got it for computer."MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE? IF WORD GETS OUT THATI'M MISSING FIVE HUNDRED GIRLS WILL KILL THEMSELVES."0

Thanks. I've got Skyrim on both PC and 360 and feel that the 360 version was lacking quite a lot, and it was unwieldy compared to the PC version. It's not that I prefer console gaming, it's just that I have consoles and don't really bother with PCs, but I know that some games are better on PC and some on console.0

Many people are put of the game pretty earlier as it starts of really slowly.
But things do improve alot after chapter 1. Those that stuck with it are generally glad they did0 -
Number 2 won't make huge sense without having played number 1, I think.0

You should have stuck with it. Its a very good game with a good story. I have clocked up 50 hours on Steam with this game nowSmile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0
