collect plus nightmare

I sent a parcel via collect plus. I ve not heard out so presumed everything was ok. But I have just been told it hasn't been received. When ive checked the tracking number there is a message on there from the 23rd to say problem with your parcel please call.

So I called up and they told me they would call me back, they didn't. I called back again and was told the item was lost. I told them I wasn't happy that they didn't let me know. They told me they don't call or email its up to me to see if there is a problem. I asked for a complaint process and the lady basically asked why, then hung up on me.

I email for a complaint - and received an email saying the parcel was stolen from the depot, and I need a claim form but didn't include it.

I called again to get a form email over.... 2 hours later no form. Ive called again and they said they have sent it - they also told me if I call to soon I will go to the back of the pile.... pathetic, and then.... still no form .

This is a joke. so now have no form and told not to call?

what can I do with this?

I wouldn't use this company there a joke !

There was a Collect + representative who appeared on the boards for a while. I'm not sure he still visits :) or even if he still works there, but here's his email address paulg@collectplus.co.uk

    Might be worth trying him?

Twitter is the best way to complain as its instant and everyone will see it.
  • The paulg guy no longer works there but send an e-mail to philipm@collectplus.co.uk he has helped with things like this in the past.
  • Hello Everyone .
i have booked a parcel for my friend from bristol to surrey . i was tracking the parcel and the didnt update don their website on the second day i have phoned them and asked them to find out and they said its in gatwick surrey centre . after three days of chasing i got a reply from them which my parcel is lost . they saying i didnt buy anycover for my valuable item which is worth more than £550 . they saying i can claim upto only £50 . i am thinking of taking them to small claims court or Postrs .

i am very fedup with their answers . and they answering in irresponsible manner , when chasing the parcel i always get different answers from the contact centres .
if anyone know what are the rules to take action against them . because i can see more people writing about collect plus here , if we dont take action they will do it again and again to inncocents ,

    thanks in Advance

The rules are that you failed to insure it properly.

If you had insured it you should have got a full refund of the items value.

You probably get different answers because the people maybe in different parts of the country and will have no idea where your parcel is.

If you dont take action they will do it again? Quite likely things get broken, stolen or just misplaced. You taking them to court will make no difference.

Not being nasty but just putting it plainly. If you goto court they will just say sorry we lost the parcel and offered the £50 the item was worth. The sender didnt think it was worth more because they didnt take out insurance to cover more than £50.

Unfortunately all carriers including Riyal mail will expect items to be insured properly. I don't like Collect plus personally, but as to whether they are better or worse than other couriers that is a matter of debate.

You are entitled to the level of insurance you deemed to be acceptable when you posted the item, assuming the item was even allowable of course, you are not entitled to more.

  • I used to have no problems with Collect plus when sending items, but I ordered an item which the person used them and the item was left by side gate as I wasn't in.

The item was not there when I checked - it has presumably been stolen or the courier has not delivered it.

I asked the seller and he agreed to investigate it but Collect plus now don't know where the item is. So now I've got to claim the money I paid back but the seller has to put the claim through.

I'm unlikely to be using them again after this incident and will probably use UPS instead...
