Cancelling order made at garage

Posted this in the motoring section but recommended to repost here. Any thoughts gratefully received.
I recently ordered a wing mirror in person at my local garage and didn't pay. They didn't have one in stock but ordered it by telephone from a supplier. Within the hour I discovered that I could get the same thing elsewhere for half the price and immediately contacted the garage to ask if I could cancel. They said that I can't because they are not allowed to make returns to their supplier.
Am I legally allowed to refuse the service in this situation or will I have to suck it up?

As you ordered in person you can't use the DSRs to get out of paying (even if they would have let you for this sort of order). I think you're stuck with it I'm afraid.0

If you don't care about future relationship with local garage, they will hardly sue you if you don't take or pay.This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0
