Your local motor shop will check the condition of the battery and if everything is charging Ok for free. I think that should be your first stop.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

You may find the locks thing is related - on my Mum's car, pulling the central locking fuse stopped the battery discharging.
As mentioned, a bit of work with a multimeter could help you here.0 -
Do you have breakdown cover which includes home start? European cover, possibly ADAC?, are mentioned on MSE quite often.0

There is no such animal anywhere near.
re:'I think that should be your first stop' , NO the Stop is outside now, hence my post!
This is a Fen village. No 'motor shop' or anything beyond minimal village store/PO here.
Yes, WIC - I'm sure the locks going on and off at random, sometimes for as much as a minute, is relevant.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Well, little albion has just equalised in that game with le ballon rond[kiwi, moi, hence tense presence in a Cambridge rugby pub again Sat a.m. for the ABs to go 3-0....on verra]
Read Haynes again. Lifted bonnet again. Tweaked all the things as shown in pics again. Read about alternators again.
Key in ignition again. Turned it again.
CAR STARTED!!!!!!:-)))))))))))))))))))))))))))AND HAS BEEN FINE SINCE.
Residuals: no electronic dial numbers, car radio. All knocked out. I always do a mileage check when I fuel up. That 124 reading is gone; re-started from 0. Clock also needed complete change and radio is a total puzzle - have never seen 'CODE - - - - -' before. Can't get anything from it and haven't a clue what this means. There isn't any manual for it and it doesn't seem to have a brand I can look for online. Can only see the word 'eon', but is this a tradename?
My apologies for this change of subject, but replies so far have mostly been helpful and kindly, for which Thankyou all.

That's a pity, I wanted you to buy an "Antigravity Micro-start" and be the forums guinea pig to see if they work.
With your additional info. and this being a Focus, it is unlikely to be the battery, or the alternator itself for that matter.
You need a tech who is recommended and works on more than tractors to have a look. He should start with the wiggle test on the alternator connecting block to see how that affects the symptoms, the wiring in your tailgate, the ignition switch itself, before plunging into condemning the dash (lots of those refurbed that aren't really the culprit).
With any luck it will be tired wiring/connectors and an hours time to fix.
Go on, if your out in the boonies, buy one of those pocket chargers anyway.0
