From what the op has posted, and his continuing discussions with the insurer, which is the want to charge for not renewing, I'm more than happy to suggest referring the complaint to the FOS in needed. So based on what the op has said, without changing the circumstances, I'm pleased to hear dunstonh agree that 'that people with genuine complaints should complain and refer to the FOS if necessary', as I'm sure he will confirm, based on the facts given, this is certainly a genuine case for complaint.0

It says this on the Privilege Insurance website-
If you cancel your policy before it is due to start we will refund any premium you have paid in full.If you cancel your policy within 14 days of the day it is due to start or of the day on which you receive your documents (whichever is later) we will return any premium you have paid less an administration fee of £37.10 (inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax where applicable).
If you cancel your policy after that 14 day period we will return any unused premium less an administration fee of £37.10 (inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax where applicable).
So either the OP hasnt given us correct information or has misunderstood, or Privilege have misunderstood.0 -
Oh Dear!!! I just paid for car insurance with Bewiser and on receiving my documents I saw that thy were asking me for proof of my nine years NCB and if I dont provide it within 14 days they may have to charge me 25 quid if they have to contact me again...problem is I stated that I had 0 years no claims so I dont know where they got the nine from. I phoned them up to clarify this and I was told not to worry itd just a generic thing and I should ignore it. I need to phone them again about this obviously having read the stuff on here...Certain similarities like getting a text from them to phone for a reduction in the cost and also the phone ringing and no one there yet when you phone back the message is 'the office is closed'
I'm getting a bad feeling about this. I'll phone in the morning and let you know how I get on0 -

Step one, ignoring the letter asking for proof of your NCD, what NCD does the schedule of insurance say you have been quoted on the basis of?0
