My oh my is this a busy board!!!!
I hope this has not been answered elsewhere but its now hard to find info amongst the large amount of posts.
Ill try to be brief
Sent a letter to Barclay's on June 20th claiming about £1000 worth of charges. In my letter I gave them 14 days to respond.
Received a letter on the 23 of June from Barclay's saying "sorry that I am unhappy"," My comments are receiving attention and I will receive further contact soon","They will try to respond within the timescale outlined in my letter but cannot guarantee to do so","They aim to find a solution within four weeks","If they are unable to do so they will always write to me explaining what is happening" and this is the one "A full report or an update on our progress will sent to me within eight weeks"
My questions....
As I stated 14 days in my letter should I stick to that and issue proceedings on the 14th day?
Do I give them any longer (4 or 8 weeks)?
What should me next steps be?
Thanks for your help in advance

It's up to you whether you want to stick it out and wait but the general rule is stick to your own timescales not the banks. It's part of their stalling tactics.
Im also claiming from Barclays and i waited until their first request of 3rd July, lo and behold they write again and say now wait until 30th. Im wanting to take it to the FO and I have to wait 8 weeks from when I first requested the charges back so am sticking it out until then.
If you're going through court, as their times up i'd file your claim

Would the court not think it reasonable that they have responded and offered timescales?princesskez26 wrote: »It's up to you whether you want to stick it out and wait but the general rule is stick to your own timescales not the banks. It's part of their stalling tactics.

No, they simply stated their bog standard complaints procedures to you which are the same for every bank: 8 weeks then you can take it to the FO if you are still not happy. However, if you want to take them to court instead, waiting 2 x 14 days is more than enough.Reclaimed thanks to this site:
