Was it just the Notice of Intended Prosecution?? This is where you basically admit the offence, sign and return form???

First time in 20 years driving was caught at 36 in 30. Same letter asking to admit offence then a week later got a letter with options available. 3 points and £60, go to court and contest or go on speed awareness course at £85 for 4 hours.

No brainer really as for extra £25 saves having no points plus from October this year the car insurance database is being linked to DVLA so points will be available to see by insurers and insurance would have gone up.

I quite enjoyed the course, group on my table varied in offences 50 in 40, 80 in 70 so as long as you have not been on a course in last 3 years it may be offered to you in the second letter.

As of last year, the fine for a FP went up to £100, but SACs have tended to stay the same price... so you're actually saving money, too.

<cough> I'm sure you'd have told your insurer anyway, wouldn't you...? So the database being linked is irrelevant, since that'll only affect people who actively lie to their insurers. And you wouldn't do that, would you?

I can't help re the speeding fine, but your main concern seems to be the time taken to receive the new photocard through.

My husband's recently was due to expire, he sent it off on Saturday, and the new one arrived on the following Tuesday, so just 2 working days!!

This was only around 3 weeks ago so I wouldn't worry too much, I guess they must not have a backlog at the moment and your replacement will probably arrive any day.

I renewed my photo card licence at the Post Office using their service and received the new one four days later!
