Hi! I have never posted before, so please be gentle. In the last year, I have managed to negotiate early settlement figures with credit cards. MBNA and EGG agreed to 50% deals and RBS, Barclaycard and Co-op agreed to 75% deals. I was only able to do this by taking out a consolidation loan, so I am still making huge efforts to get straight.
I would like to make claims for the credit card fees that I have been hammered by, but am worried that the settlements I mention will stop me from being able to do this. What do you think? Will they say that the reduction in the debt accounted for these charges?
I have just sent 1st letters to my two bank accounts for their charges, so I am feeling pretty good for taking that first step.
Many thanks for all/any advice!!

Lippy, i am always gentle to newbie's and i think what would happen is that the other companies may well claim the amounts they have not received if you claim. Do not let that put you off though. I think the first positive step you have made is to post on here. It does takes guts to be able to explain the situation as calmly as you have done. The job for us that post on this thread is to help you with advice that means you feel able to continue. There will be low points but we can all get you through them.0

Well done on getting your debts under control again

If your creditors accepted your final payments as 'full and final settlement' then this phrase means they have no further claim on you. They may well state that they took into account charges when reducing the amount payable but unless this is in writing ( and I highly doubt it will be ) they dont have the right to refuse refund on that basis. They might try and fob you off with that excuse but dont be deterred.
I'd advise to thoroughly check all the paperwork for each company you settled with to be absolutely clear on what terms you settled on and take it from there.
Good luck
