Milk
A lot of supermarkets are doing the 4 pints for £1 price at the moment. Unfortunately we don't get through 4 pints in the time until it goes off, but it seems silly to buy a 2 pint bottle for 89p when we can get twice as much for £1. Has anyone found any ways of making it last longer? Could I tip some out into a tupperware and freeze it?

As it is now homogenised yes you can. Make sure that you leave a fair space at top though as liquids expand when cold & if too full might knock lid off.0

could u use the rest in cooking ? such as cauli cheese/rice pudding/angel delight/smoothie thats what i do to make use of the £1 deal...i have never frozen milk so dont know how that would turn outonwards and upwards0

I freeze skimmed milk and it's fine. Not sure if it makes a difference with full fat milk or not.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Milk from supermarkets doesn't all keep for the same period.
ASDA online promises 7+ days and usually in my experience is delivered lasting 11 days including day of delivery.
Tesco promises 5+ days and usually is delivered to last 8 days.
There is filtered milk, such as Cravendale, that keeps much longer but the price gap between that and "normal" milk is now much larger than it once was.
In all cases the "use by" date is reduced once the container is opened.0 -
I worry that the farmers are getting underpaid due to this supermarket price war. I don't think that £1.50 is expensive for 4 pints of milk (2.2 litres) when coca-cola is £1.85 (or 2 for £2) for 1.75 litres.0

I wouldn't worry about it farmers can afford it what with grants and
the recent increases in cereal and meat prices.0 -

Farmers usually get very generous subsidies.
In answer to the OP, yes you can freeze milk. I do it all the time. Just give a good shake after it's defrosted."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0
