Is there a simple method of obtaining a list of properties for sale in an area?

Found it now! I made the mistake of putting the correct address rather than a more fashionable name!
Best to use the postcodes as you say and search within quarter of a mile.
It's common for the Rightmove filter to confuse 2 bedrooms with 3 bedrooms, and terraced with a semi for the sort of house which I was looking at.0 -
Glad you found it
Our old flat had offices below, and even though they shared the same entrance, to make the offices sound better the address was the road around the other side of the building. It caused no end of confusion when trying to get deliveries because the front door had the office address on it! In fact it also meant the postcode was completely different too, apart from sharing the first two letters.
I find that the 'map search' is also very useful as you can quickly draw an area and see everything available within it - if you know the address you can just draw around a couple of roads and see if it shows up.0
