applying for a new credit card for transfer

I have several credit cards and I use them to move my balances around to use 0% offers to manage my debt.
I require a new one now, ideally one with a long 0% term but I'm finding I'm not being accepted when I apply. Any ideas why I can't get one? Can you have more than one card with one company? I pay minimum amount on time with a DD. SHould I close some down?

Generally, you can have more than one card with a company, but I am pretty sure not all companies allow this.

It's pretty obvious that the more cards you have, the more difficult it is to get a new one as your available credit gets bigger and bigger - unlike your income.

Also, minimum payments are now reported to CRAs and can be negatively seen by companies scoring you.

Generally, you can't rely on "moving your balances around" forever, and you have to think about repaying debt.

We need a lot more info -

  • As has been said, you can have more than one card per company. However, you will generally not be permitted to transfer a balance from one to another directly. You could possibly transfer via a third card but of course that would introduce an extra fee.
