B&Q kitchen fitting price

I have had a quote from B&Q to supply and fit a new kitchen. the Supply is £6780, for the whole thing, and fitting is £4470 including removal and disposal, electrics, plumbing, flooring, building flat packs, installing dishwasher, washer, oven, hob, micro, extractor, etc. Is that OK for the fitting costs? Would my local builder do it cheaper?

Not knowing the size of the kitchen but would suggest sounds expensive. We did our whole kitchen including rsj, re plastering, new ceiling, lights, tile flooring etc for under 10k including Bosch oven, hob and dishwasher - kitchen Howdens middle of the range, expensive tiles floor & wall, appliances where bought separately online which saved a lot.

Yes it is expensive because b+q are creaming a lot off that, the fitter will get his usual price for all works they get the difference.
Not a good product at all, you should research your kitchen fitter just as much as the kitchen, he is the one that is putting your 10k in your home, with B+q its pot luck who you get. They do have some quality fitters but you have no say in who turns up.

Yes. Someone local will certainly do it cheaper.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
  • Generally you will find an independent showroom will charge more for better quality furniture than the likes of B&Q & Howdens but their installation costs are less. Check out a local company.

My parents had a carpenter fit their kitchen and it was a larger than average kitchen, he took 3 days to do it all, so that price is way way way to much.

Without knowing what the work included the figure of 3 days means little. For instance were the units flat pack or ready built?, how many units, how many worktops, electrics, plumbing etc etc. No way could I fit a "larger than average" kitchen in 3 days, more than likely a day just putting the carcases together, built in appliances can take time as can pull out larders and baskets.

I would agree that the OP's quote looks far too high and as we all know B&Q will take a large wedge of that quote for doing next to no work and hopefully people are getting wiser to the fact that B&Q etc are taking them for a ride. Difficult to give an accurate estimate without further info.

just had a 4k howdens kitchen, with 2ks worth of appliances bought seperatley, fitted and tilled for 1k. granted FiL did the electrics but your price does sound excessive.

id highly recommend howdens if you know a fitter as their trade only, or ikea if your kitchen is a simply lay out and you dont need the service void behind the units

Be careful with b&q. If it was anything like my bathroom quote it will have notes that say certain things are not known and may cost more.
As said above b&q add on a margin to a standard fitting charge, so it will be more than a local builder but you get a better guarantee if the work is crap.

4k to FIT? Does your kitchen feed 50,000 people?

I always work things to man days. £200/day max including a level of profit. Is it going to take a trade 22 days to fit your kitchen?
