When paying MBNA credit card with a debit card payment for the first time,

they ask for the bank account number, sort code, name etc, from the bank account the money is coming from.

After setting this up, do either :

MBNA send you a letter in the post to you to confirm this?
or the Bank send you a letter in the post to you to confirm this?

or text/ or email?

or nothing gets sent to confirm but the money just gets transferred?

(a payment from debit card bank account , to the MBNA credit card of £600, yes, paying a big chunk off! :D)

No. But it will appear on your bank and card statements.

I'm surprised at this. Surely they only need the 16-digit card number, expiry date and CVV from the back of the card?

Is this just like paying for online shopping (from Next, Asda etc)

they take the debit card number, and and process the payment without sending anything in the post ?

It is just like buying something in a shop with your debit card, you pay it, it appears on your bank statement as MBNA and that is it.

If you set up a direct debit, then you will receive a letter, with the direct debit details on them.

After the first time of entering the details, you no longer have to enter them all again, the next time, just enter the amount and the 3 digit CVV on the back of the debit card and that is it, it will take you to entering any 3 characters from the VISA online protection screen.

With M&S, I have to enter all the details again, such as expiry date, card number, which I find annoying as it means I have to have my card with me, because I can never remember the 16 digit card number.
