CC OnlineStatements,If Printed can their payslips(on bottom)be used at banks to pay?

This question is regarding the 'pay in slip' at the bottom of a credit card statement bill (specifically MBNA)

When only receiving online statements (choosing No to paper posted statements),
and checking statements online ever ymonth,

and then if you use the pay slip from one of these pay slips, at the bank, paid in as cash.. (the slip found at the bottom of the statement) - to pay off a balance, as Cash at the bank.

Then is it a case of printing the online statement, taking it to the bank, and them using it like a normal posted statement?

MBNA online statements are identical to the posted ones.
Do you have to print them in colour?

I am asking as years back, one was printed, and taken to the bank to pay the minimum payment as cash.. but when printed the Code on this printed version on the bottom of the payslip/barcode didnn't get printed, so the bank couldn't process it..

in otherwords when they swiped it in the machine the machine didn't recognize it

I don't see any reason for a b&w printed copy not working unless printing quality is very bad.

    Hi gemmaking

A quote from MBNA's Help and Support site, about making payment using the Giro slip:
    Over the counter
    Giro slip
This only applies if you still get your statements by post. You’re not able to pay using this method if you receive paperless statements via online.

You'll find a Giro slip at the bottom of your latest paper statement. Take it to your bank or building society and they'll use your details to set up your payment.

Perhaps the postal Giro slip is printed with magnetic ink ?

It's beyond me why anybody savvy enough to receive online statements would then queue up in a branch to pay by giro.

Online (.pdf) statements from Capital One have "Duplicate - not valid for payments" printed on the bank giro credit slip. This advice probably should be applied to all home printed giro slips.

What's the problem with printed giro slips?
My understanding is that it's just an instruction for processing a payment. Why can it not be printed at home?

They can be printed at home, just not used in the bank to make payments.

    Fine.
Why a slip printed at home cannot be used in the bank?

Not that I can ever need to do this. It's just I am curious.

They probably won't fit in the printer.

The ink used on any bill that can be paid in a bank uses ocr ink that the bank machines and clearing centres can 'read' the voucher to apply the payment.
A photocopy might go through blank meaning you have not paid - go to jail do not collect £200 + the hassle of going back to the bank to get them to sort it out.
