Looking for a European plug type

On the ferry to France the plug sockets look French, but they are not, i.e. it is the same size round shape with 2 pins, the pins are smaller though
A French plug there would be a round shape with a earth point at 12 oclock and 6 oclock. But on the boat plugs the shape is round with 2 pins and the earth points are at 3 oclock and 9 oclock., if memory serves.
What type of plug is the ferry plug?
French Plug 12 oclock and 6 oclock

By the way, A french plug did not fit into the socket, (pins too big) but one of those euro-travel adapters did plug in. So I am wondering what country has the same plug as those travel adaptors - smaller pins.

Well I guess it must have been a type F, and maybe the French plug did not fit because the 3 oclock 9 oclock inset stops it from going in.
But I could have sworn the pins were different sizes.0 -

FWIW, first time I bought a converter plug, and tried to use it in France, its pins were too small and wrongly spaced, and I had to buy a converter for it from a French supermarket. I have a feeling it was one of the europlug variants.0
