Hi hope someone can advise. I purchased an aerial from Maplins about 3 years ago. Had some TV reception problems and when engineer took a look aerial has lost some of the "spikes" and parts are corroded. Contacted Maplins who asked for photos as no longer have receipt. Took photos(Aerial is still on roof)Obviously they couldn't tell which aerial it was from these. Didn't want to know so wrote to Manager at Head Office, got email back from same person had dealt with previously now offering £10 off new aerial.
Really don't want another one from this company. Does anyone know if I can still reject it? as all aerials that I know of last longer than this has

No, you cant reject it after 3 years, I would take the deal or you have to prove it's not fit for purpose and with no receipt you have no rights at all.0

Why do you not want another one from Maplin?0

It's been on your roof for 3 years and you don't have a reciept...you time would be better used sourcing a new one as you will have no chance in getting a refund or new one from Maplin.0

This but with one alteration (the one in bold). You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
How much did it cost? It has been up there 3 years, has endured what can only be described as one of the worst winters on record, I am surprised it hasn't been ripped to shreds if it was that bad an aerial.
I got a local co to put 3 aerials on my roof, with all the cabling and into 3 rooms, one upstairs and 2 down and it cost me a grand total of £45. Have a look around and save all the stress of trying to get anything back off them.0 -
3 years isn't bad - and you'll likely get nothing back anyway. Some battles aren't worth your time, move on.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I thought aerials lasted longer than that. Will take on board your comments but wont take their offer as would rather source a better quality one.0

Why not contact Maplins again and ask if they would consider letting you have the £10 as store credit for any purchase rather than just for a new aerial.
The chances are that they will refuse, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.0
