Travelodge and the 05/07/2014

Normally I can easily book a travelodge room in Luton two and a bit weeks before I need to. However there are no rooms at all fo r that date, in fact pretty much the whole South East of England seems to be booked out. The rooms that are available are going for around £80 plus and that is as far away as Coventry and Ipswich. I have tried other hotel chains such as Premier Inn, Hotel Ibis, Days Inn and the story is the same.

I do this every three weeks or so and never had this issue. Why are pretty much all hotels booked out for the 5th July?

It's the British Grand Prix at Silverstone between 4-6 July. Luton is only 40 miles away, so would be a possible choice for race goers if local hotels are booked.

Can't explain why hotels further south are full, but am sure there are probably other big events happening for forthcoming weekends

The Tour de France is going from Cambridge to London on Monday 7th. Maybe people are making a weekend of it.
