halifax exchange rate abroad

my daughters on holiday in the canaries she used her Halifax clarity card to withdraw euros out of a atm when she asked me to check her account the rate she got was equated to 1.19 to the pound I thought it would be a lot higher we have used our clarity card in the past and always got a lot higher rate has any thing changed with the cards terms and conditions

Did she pay an ATM fee? Opt to use dynamic currency conversion when withdrawing (as in did the ATM charge the card in £, applying it's own awful exchange rate)?

The Clarity still charges no fees or forex conversion loadings.

She probably inadvertently opted for the Spanish bank to do the conversion instead of Halifax (using the interbank rate). For example, when I was there earlier this year the Santander ATM gave me a message offering to do the conversion for 2%. I declined!

Is 1.19 actually shown as the exchange rate or did you calculate this? Perhaps the ATM operator has charged a fee?

Thanks for the replies,we calculated this from the amount in euros to what showed on the Halifax account statement.I suspect that she probably chose the wrong conversion at the atm.
