It's nice to get feedback - and it just goes to show that many of the things kids seem to enjoy most (ducks, squirrels, picnics, parks and sand play areas) are free and can be found all over !
scousewife - next time, if you are travelling down on a Sunday you should find that you can get some good hotel deals - Sunday nights are often the cheapest of the week (e.g. Covent Garden Travelodge has family rooms and is in a really good central location). Just bear in mind that you may find engineering works taking place on both rail and tube on Sundays, which is something to watch for.0 -

OP, thanks for the update. Just to let you know in case you come to London again. You did not need to purchase a child's travelcard as children aged 10 and under travel free on all London transport so your 3 year old and 7 year old would have been entitled to free travel.0 -
Children (and adults) enjoy boat trips down the river.
With a rail ticket there are 2-4-1 offers that may be useful for you

I did know that children under 10 travelled for free susancs but in order to use my Family & Friend Railcard I had to purchase a child ticket with my adult tickets - So although the child ticket was not required for the child to travel it was required to make a saving of £8. :money:Sorry I didn't make this clearer on my original post but I have since edited it x0 -
It might be cheaper to buy the Travelcard with the rail tickets.
We're going into town in a couple of weeks and the fare is £10.12 without a TC, £13.00 with.0
