Hi guys,
I have been looking for car insurance for my 17 year old daughter and found out an interesting thing, if you get a quote for insurance starting today(the day you apply) then the premium is higher, than in 3 days time.
I put my daughters details into Direct Line and got a quote for insurance starting today and the cost was over £1280, if i then only change the date by adding 3 days the insurance went down to £950 (adding more days did not lower the premium).
So my advice is, if your son/daughter needs insurance for the day they pass their test then get a quote at least one week before because the quotes are honored for one month, thus you can save around 33%.
I hope this helps people:T

I'll try that tomorrow and report back.
Trying to help out son's ex-partner with insurance. They split last week and to ensure grand-daughter is mobile (she's 16 months) I'm making him sell the family car and buy 1 each for him and her. Hours tonight checking everywhere.
Female / driving now 9 months / 25 yrs old / Homemaker at present / 1999 306 worth £600 / no convictions etc
Best so far is Tesco at £1100:eek:
Anyone know of individual companies who may do better. Tried Quinn (£1400) and Aviva said ''no''0 -
Get a quote on something slightly newer year 2001 or 2002 or newer. It maybe cheaper.
It was for my daughter. Going older than 2001 seemed to increase the premium and remove some of the companies quoting on a newer car.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
