Do you know any good websites that tells you about an area? Tells you about things like the schools, crime rate, house prices, facilities etc. There see to be a web site called upmystreet, but this is not here anymore.

Hmm, not sure how helpful it is.
I put in the last two places I have lived and got identical reports.
Ok, the immediate vicinity of the full post codes is reasonably similar but the surrounding areas of Warrington and the New Forest are rather different.0 -

Now that produced much more what I would consider useful and would expect and really highlighted the difference in my two chosen areas. 0 -
Get on Twitter & follow your local businesses, local paper & radio station- even local police tweets can be helpful! And Yelp is good for local businesses too, but most of it's about restaurants.0

What do you mean it's about restaurants?“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson

fixmystreet's good if people in the area are moaning about stuff.... you get to find out if there's graffiti or nuisance. http://www.fixmystreet.com/
Also, the police crime map, Google for police crime map and put the name of the area.
There are loads, but none that are really good for everything..... and every area's different for what you can glean from it + how useful that is (e.g. who is writing the stuff).
I also google the road name and words like: police, arrested, court.... see what the neighbours get up to. I've got a car speeder .... and a drunk driver.0 -
Ask on here - someone's bound to live there/used to live there, know of it, or have a relative there.

google the area name with your keywords, separated with a + sign
area+schools
area+primary school
area+crime rates
area+whatever you want to know0 -
Sorry I know it's been a while since the original post but I've been looking for the same thing. I've come across the following:
streetcheck
streetreviewuk
locationcounts
all seem to have data at quite a low level (e.g. postcode areas) but locationcounts seems to have info down at a postcode level.
Sorry, I can't post links as I'm a new user0
