    Hello Tuesday People,
Am making reasonable headway through today's list & keeping the MSE faith:
*Saved a teensy bit of energy by sharing bath water & using leftover hot kettle water for small cleaning job.
*Picked home grown herbs needed for today's cooking efforts.
*Pulled 2lbs home grown rhubarb, blanched & froze it.
*Swept through the fridge & veggie baskets looking for anything on its last legs for using up today. Quite a successful sweep, yielding onions, celery, carrots & parsley, all now used.
*Made rajma curry (red kidney bean recipe found online a while back, think it's from the Punjab. Anyway, wherever it's from, it's cheap as chips, very tasty, easy to make & we really like it). 2 portions for dinner tonight on jacket potatoes & 2 portions for the freezer (freezes really well too).
*Made mince & dumplings to take camping. Will freeze it today & take out on the morning we go so it's thawed nicely ready for 1st night's dinner in our tent. The suet was a bit of a 'Use-it-up' as it's been sitting in the larder since the Christmas pudding & mincemeat doing b-all.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Improvised a quick recycled card to send to a poorly relative. Recycled envelope too. It's the good wishes for a speedy recovery that are inmportant, I told myself, not the cost of the card.
*Topped up worm composter again. They are scoffing through everything I give them at the moment. One tray of compost looking ready to use, must chuck in even more scraps to get another layer started asap. Want to keep the free liquid plant food coming too.
*Watered veggies & swore about latest bird damage - woodpigeons scarfing my chard plants. Particularly galling as I gave an ad hoc respectful burial to one of their own at the weekend & this is how they repay me, grrr!
*Caught up with surveys. I do wish they would screen their panel members better. I'm getting fed up with receiving email alerts for 'a survey chosen just for you', then it's about tobacco (they know I don't smoke), children (I don't have any) or I'm simply the wrong age profile. Can't bear having my time wasted!
*Carry on knitting 2nd sock for a pair that are a gift to go in the present box.
*Did laundry overnight on Economy 7 & it's all almost dried after a morning blowing outside on the line.
*Sort through cat box to check we have everything for when our new rescue boy moves in next week. Will have his adoption fees to pay to the Rescue & he'll need to have his inoculations at the vet, so ££s but essential ££s, & at least we have everything we need on the food, bed, blanket front so won't need to buy anything else just yet. Can't wait!
OK, must get laptop signed off & carry on with the few bits on here I haven't quite finished yet.
DNMS - I do hope the interview went well. Sounds like a very worthwhile area to be working in. I considered a job vacancy working with a similar group a year or so ago, but changed my mind as I do quite like not working at the moment, but also, the very short time scale for getting the application in was just crazy, & I decided not to bother. Anyway, 'virtual friends' we may only be, but I have still been wondering how you got on. Fingers crossed.
OK, a big sinkful of mincey pots calls.........ooooh, the glamour!

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

@georgybrown0 - I don't post everyday, but I do find that regular posting on this thread helps to keep me motivated. We're a debt-free household now apart from the mortgage, but we discovered budgeting later in life (early 40s when LBM struck!) & we don't want to go back to the naughty overspenders we used to be. Having a list, even in my head, which I can pop down on here does help me to keep the faith. It's nice too because for whatever reason, everyone on here is chasing the same goal....so welcome, & lurk if you want to, but we hope you'll now join in & post too.
