That made me laugh - oh so true!

As an example, we were doing food manners at training the other week.
I was feeling smug - I knew we'd walk it as we do it every day at home and it would be the first time we'd done as well as/better than anyone else.
I failed to take into account that his bowl at home is a large solid metal thing whereas the bowl being used in training was a small pink plastic affair bearing a remarkable resemblance to a Frisbee. I'm sure you can guess the rest.

    Learning outcomes for that session:
    1) Pride comes before a fall
    2) We really need to do a lot more work on our "drop" command.
    3) Gritted teeth and swearing send him bouncing off the walls. Not good in enclosed spaces.[/QUOTE]

    Sorry, this made me giggle:D

I think you should do it. He may well decide to show off his skills if it's a public demo, he clearly likes performing for an audience.

    Hmmmmmm......

I got invited to do this year's ago with my then training club with my young GSD. She was a bit of an idiot, but great at sit and stay and weaving......so, I went for it, in front of loads of people.

Thankfully they did explain that my dog was a novice and very much still in the learning process......

She ran off and swiped this kids ice-cream once she's clocked it, ran into next paddock area to eat it. I do have to say that everyone except me and the kid found it all brilliantly hilarious.

    Just go for it........lol.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

perhaps they are thinking of putting gitdog in as an example of 'before' training, and their star pupil as the 'after'? lol, or you could be the 'light relief'.
Why do I get the feeling that gitdog revels in his 'clown' status?
btw - he is lovely, and I just love that sheepish expression he has on his face!

I always enjoyed your animated tales about dear departed doggie xx Iv'e told you before but you have a brilliant way with words. I haven't been on here as much but have read a bit about "Gitdog!" the name says it all! Although I do hope he has a real name too lol!

    Anyway......

    You know you want to!

Life's too short - what's the worst that can happen.....;) :p

Can you also please take someone else with you that can video the occasion for us all to see, and make sure we get a full report after too! If the worst comes to the worst you could send it to Harry Hill too!?!? :rotfl:

And at the end of the session the trainers mention a public demonstration they're doing, which they would like me and Gitdog to be part of. Nothing special, just the usual sit, stay and all the other stuff that doesn't happen very often, and especially not in new and exciting places.
So now I'm torn between not wanting to make a total pillock of myself (the almost guaranteed outcome) and thinking that he's such a friendly dog that even if (when) he's arsing around, it's still good PR for bull terriers. Talk me into it, anyone?

    Don't go there, Elsien!

    Gitdog has form!

They want to use him as an example to others!

    Only joking, good luck

Most humiliation dished out by dog? Dished out by our No 1 Aussie .....in the show ring at Crufts (of all places!) There we were, first time ever at Crufts, all the other dogs doing what dogs do at Crufts, parading round the ring, doing the up, down and round - so that the Judge can view their movement, then going into a nice "stand" to enable the Judge to go over each dog. So what did our dog do? He went up, down and round nicely enough - then when he got to the Judge, he decided that he ought to be polite instead - so he sat down, offered the judge a paw ...and then rolled over for a belly rub! Laughter and applause all round - the judge did shake his paw - but didn't give him a place :-D :-D :-D Long gone now - but everybody remembered him!

Ok, I've put my name down.
I've also (stop sniggering at the back) signed Gitdog up to the canine good citizen award.
When it all goes pear-shaped me and my no-win-no-fee lawyer will be back on here seeking damages for psychological trauma, as it'll be all your faults for making me do it.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
