freeview recorder

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a hd dvr recorder which you can play the recorded video from computer ? another word it can stream the recorded channel to computer?

  • Possibly have a look at Belkin @TV. This little box and software will allow you to control and stream any PVR over your home network (or indeed remotely over the Internet).

You can view and control it using your home PC, smart-phone or tablet.

One drawback for you might be the video quality which, I seem to remember, will be 720p at best, subject to your network speed etc.

Also it requires a composite or component analogue video signal input ... it has no HDMI connector.

If you want to spend more money, there are also various spec Slingbox models which perform a similar function.

I think the Humax PVR act as a DLNA server, and you can run vlc to watch streamed recorded videos on a PC on same LAN. You can also FTP content from the PVR, but the HD content is encrypted, but SD content is viewable on the PC once download,

thanks for this. I am looking at something which has a hard drive and can freeview built in so basically I just plugged the antenna to it and tell it when to record what channel.

Belkin tv etc seemed to need to connect to another box and they they stream from that box, right ?

Yes, it is a box that allows you to control and view remotely a separate PVR.

Why don't you just get a Media Center PC?

You can build a Linux based PC from old kit, but it's less hassle with Microsoft.
