I knew i shouldnt have mentioned the make!!!!!!! Yes suprise suprise. There have been vast improvements since the 70 where they got the bad name but yes not as good as a japanese bike.

Sorry but that post tickled me. Vast improvements since the 70's but your bike appears to show the improvements are not yet upto everyone elses standards.

I had an italian scooter and it was great though. My BIL had a yamaha one and it was a wreck within 6 months.

Also after reading the manual, during the start up procedure all of the dash lights should come one for 2 seconds and then go out but the engine management light doesnt come on all the others do, so i dont know if this problem is being picked up by the bike.
Generally the warning lights come on to show they are working. Try joining a Ducati forum to check what is normal with this bike.

Hondas are no strangers to boiling their batteries due to poor rectifiers which often need replacement or an upgrade as the system tries to over charge the battery.

Oexample shows nothing in terms of likelihood of varous bikes breaking.

I've had a series of BMWs in recent years, and ALL have had major electrical issues. I've also had, in parallel, a series of Italian scooters and bikes, and not one has ever so much as put a foot wrong.

My bikes' issues prove nothing either way, and neither does the OP's.
