Looked exactly the same as usual, normal consistency, normal amount....just wrong location! The door mat he pooped on is by a fully glazed door, maybe he saw another cat in his garden and it freaked him out.

    That is possible.

I'd get your Vets advice on how often to worm and what to use. Steer clear of the rubbish they sell in Supermarkets etc and get something proper.

You haven't changed brand or texture of the cat litter recently???

Some cats sometime don't like particular ones, human don't think of that when buying.

Nothing's changed - litter the same, tray cleaned the same, food the same. No new people or animals, routine the same.

Was a bit worried during the night but fortunately no new deposits to find this morning so have everything crossed it was a random one-off. Now I just need to work out how to get him into the carrier without him hating me forever and he can have a general check-up at the vets.

Is the litter tray in a place where it can't be seen?

Sometimes, if the tray is in a place where he can see other cats (such as a window etc) it can make them scared to use it. And make sure it's nowhere near his food and water.

General litter tray rule is 1 per cat plus 1 so, as someone has already mentioned, getting another one would be useful.

If it happens again, it's worth a vet visit as it can be a sign of something wrong.

Chuck a load of 'nip in the carrier - he'll be as happy as a pig in the proverbial by the time he gets there :rotfl:

One of my cats sometimes does a poo and it sticks to her fur. So she rubs her bottom along the floor (lovely) and spreads it around. Disgusting!

If he's eating normally, pooing and weeing normally, then it was probably a one off, or he was freaked by seeing something that scared him. If you're worried, though, take him to the vets to check (seems you may have gone today anyway?).

Another wee on the carpet last night :(

He was fine yesterday - slept all day as usual, played in the garden, ate his tea, pooed in the litter tray. All good.

I went to bed about 10pm and he came with me and snuggled up on my feet as usual. OH got home about 11pm and the cat had wee'd in my shoes by the front door!

Just waiting for the vets to open. Really wish I'd called yesterday now. I put it off as he seemed fine and was using the tray so I thought it was a one off. Am so worried about him :(

Right, appointment booked for 5pm. Have everything crossed he's ok.

Have never taken him to the vet before (have never been inside a vets office, this is all new to me). Is it likely to be a two man job?? OH will still be at work but I could get my dad to come with me if it's going to be easier with someone else there.
  • Hi, It depends what hes like getting in the cat carrier, if he doesnt mind then you will be o.k. If hes really bad then you will need some help. With one of mine I have to wrap her in a bath towel and then push her in. My other cat will just go in no problem.
I hope he is o.k OP.

We've never put him in the carrier before - he came in it when he moved in with us (August last year) but he's not been back in it since. Am hoping it's not too bad! We were told that he didn't like being in the car though so am dreading the 2 min trip to the vet... thank goodness it's close.
