I'm hoping to win a new bed frame on ebay ours is too low and don't have enough money for a brand new one. But I'm wondering if I can fit it in my astra mk 5 hatch back? Already got a mattress so it's just the bed frame and it's going cheap.

If not how do I secure it and keep the boot down? Sorry I've never moved anything like this before in my car.

Have you measured the boot on your car?0

If it is fully disassembled you may squeeze it in, some parts will be 6ft 6ins long. It weighs 14.5 stone. You should not drive any distance with the hatch open, it forms part of the rigidity of the car.0

If you click through IKEA product information it will give you the number of packages, their size and even their weight. Shouldn't be a problem in an Astra, just recline the front passenger seat and leave everyone else at home.0

Ikea stuff normally breaks down into packages small enough to go on a moped. I normally tie my tailgate down to either the towing eye, spare wheel carrier, and then around the tailgate, or quite often around the rear wiper arm. It's never fallen off yet. But drive with the front windows open, mine sucks exhaust fumes in otherwise. (And move the rubbish out, or it blows in the road behind you)0

Probably. Ikea are very good at designing products that break down into pieces that will fit in a small hatchback (eg. Fiesta).
Presumably the one you are getting won't be fully disassembled, so take along a small selection of tools (screwdriver, allen keys, a mallet if you have one) if you can. Some rope or bungee cord might be useful to secure the bits within the car. If you recline the front passenger seat, you probably won't need to have the hatchback open.0 -
No passenger back seats folded down. Front seat reclined 6ft should be easy.
Best car i ever had for that was a Rover SD1. A scaffolding pole fitted in the passenger footwell slightly diagonally through to the boot and the boot still closed.
