Anyone Remember Bank One?

I'm starting to send out some letters regarding PPI but due to poor record-keeping I'm having to use an old list of creditors from my completed IVA.

Two of the biggest ones are 'Bank One Mastercard classsic' and 'Bank One Visa classic' but I can't find any details of who owned Bank One and therefore who to write to.

As you can imgaine googling 'bank one' doesn't throw up any specified answers, does anyone remembr this lender? Did it morph into Capital One or was it someone else completely?

Two things against you

These cards will have been held more than a decade ago and there are unlikely to be any records for closed accounts.

Even if records exist, monies written off (interest etc) as part of your IVA would be offset against any redress were it to be awarded.

Moneyineptitude thanks for the advice, I was aware of the first point but was willing to take a chance just in case. Was sort of aware of the second one but again no harm in trying and if what I would be due back is greater than what was written off then maybe I'll still get something I guess?

My only concern is whether they'd write back and say 'yes you're due this but we're keeping it as we wrote off this amount' (so nothing lost) or whether I'd get reimbursed and then six months down the line I'd get a 'remember that PPI claim we paid you, well...' letter.

The whole IVA thing is why I haven't shown any interest in making a claim until now, also why I never tried to claim back any bank/overdraft charges when that was going on, but now I'm just taking a 'might as well' attitude.

That's exactly what they'd do.

The more likely scenario, in your case, is that records of your finance with these cards will no longer exist. I doubt Halifax will have any knowledge of your cards unless they were later transferred to Halifax credit cards.

OK, thanks for the info. I'll chance my arm but won't get my hopes up.
