Xbox return Argos - advice please

Bought an Xbox One from Argos 7 months ago and its now faulty. Went into store today to ask about replacing it and they said they would check it was faulty then return it to Microsoft for repair. Is that within the law or can I demand a replacement there and then?

I know the law states repair or replacement but can't I demand a replacement instead of waiting for a repair?

If not would probably be quicker for me to send it to Microsoft directly

You've answered your own question, haven't you?

They're quite entitled to send it off for repair if they want...the choice of repair/replacement is theirs, not yours.

And yes, it will be quicker to send it to MS direct.

Should have phoned Microsoft directly, they'd have given you an authorisation number which tells the retailer "return this to us and we'll credit you".

Contact ms, they'll be able to help you. I haven't dealt with them myself but a few friends have and they've always been excellent (and usually chuck a freebie in - ie a few months live or a free game download). Think its usually around 2 weeks before you get it back - although I do believe its not necessarily the same console you get back (may depend whats wrong with it or they may just do this for a quicker turnaround).

Tried to contact support, cant create a repair without registering it, which they cant do as the console is already registered, despite it being new when i got it

Ringing Argos and telling them i want a new one. Even if they try sending it off they cant as they wont be able to register it

Sounds like its been purchased and returned previous to you buying it. I wonder if it was returned as faulty or just as a change of mind.

Was all sealed. Anyway went to Argos, told them the tale and he replaced it no questions asked. Didnt bother checking it

Guy who delt with it was a gamer too with an Xbone. Maybe that helped :D
