hi, i bought a t shirt from the website surfdome but sent it back for a refund as it didn't fit.
to send it back i used the free postage labels provided by surfdome. however, two weeks on and they still haven't received the item.
the t shirt wasn't that expensive (only £20), but i'm still out of pocket at the moment, and am wondering what to do and if i can claim anything from royal mail? all i have is my proof of postage, but as i didn't pay to insure the package i fear i may have just lost £20?
any advice would be appreciated.

Stick your claim in to the Royal mail you should be covered for that amount.0

I don't think you've lost your money, but in order to put in a claim that the Royal Mail have lost your t-shirt, you have to wait 15 working days from the date of postage.
I can't link to the form you need as I'm classed as a new user, but you'll find a pdf for a lost, damaged or delayed inland mail claim form as a PDF on the Royal Mail website which details what you need to submit to make a claim. (I'm assuming the address for Surfdome is inland)0 -

It's actually 15 working days after the last estimated delivery date for the service used.0 -
Oops, yes, thanks Shaun, you are quite right!! I ballsed up editing my message when I had to take the URL out.
I would guess that the freepost used would have most likely been 2nd class, but EBH would need to check this.0 -
Freepost carries £0 compensation0

Blimey, Custardy!! That must have changed relatively recently then, as I'm sure this has been possible in the past.
But yes, this does appear to be the case. Quoted from the Royal Mail Online Claim Form P58:
If you have used a non trackable pre-paid or freepost service we’re unable to consider your claim for compensation.
That seems a little unfair, and I guess if anyone is returning/exchanging anything of value, they may be better off stumping up the postage themselves, then hoping that the company might offer a refund of the cost (but don't count on it).0
