Credit check for rentals- Help anyone from a credit agency??

Hi I am currently looking for a new rental property the one I am in is about to be sold. I have been told that they will run a credit check. There is conflicting information about this as when I spoke to Experian they say a potential lettings agent or landlord can see my full file however there is information on these forums from a Experian representative that says otherwise. What exactly will a lettings agent or potential landlord see? If anyone is form a credit agency and could clarify this I would be very grateful.

They can only see public information, ie CCJs. They can't see anything else at all.0

Thanks so much for the response Camelot. Do you have any idea why I get conflicting info when I phone a Experian, they have said that the agent or landlord will be able to see my full credit report? :mad:0 -
