Apply for Credit Card from previous debtor?
Hi there,
A quick question.
Having recently finished my IVA I have done a soft search through MSE for credit re-builder cards. The only one that came up (80% chance of approval) was AQUA.
These were included in my IVA (A small amount considering the scope, £100), so wondered if anyone ever applied to a previous debtor or is this a big NO-NO?
Many thanks!

It should not be a problem.
But there is another provider: 'Vanquis'. They have given me a credit card whilst I am still in the IVA, you you should have no worries.
Careful of the 39%APR, and makes sure you repay Monthly in full.
I am sure there are others as well.
Good luck.0 -

After 6 years all previous details will be erased from your file so they may not be able to detect any previous accounts, you will find banks and financial institutions don't bear grudges, they make decisions based on how good a potential customer you are likely to be now, not what you were like 4,5,6 years ago.

Hi thanks, yes I've contacted these twice and they haven't returned my messages... I wanted to test the water before they tried to make and application for me or something daft. They did show as a 0% chance of success in my soft search through MSE...UpToMyNeckInIt wrote: »It should not be a problem.

Well that's good to know! I think I'll give them a go and see, I have heard of Vanquis (like mentioned above) that they will pretty much give anybody a card. I am aware of the huge interest rates but I know how to handle them, I am a changed man! Haha! I guess I'll suck it and see like you say! Just didn't want a failed credit search on my file.sourcrates wrote: »After 6 years all previous details will be erased from your file so they may not be able to detect any previous accounts, you will find banks and financial institutions don't bear grudges, they make decisions based on how good a potential customer you are likely to be now, not what you were like 4,5,6 years ago.

This is very helpful for me. I'm gutted that I had to get an IVA, as I've had to give up my M&S credit card. It was a very good card to have!0
