Butlins passes

We're going to Butlins Skegness for the first time next month and I have just received the pre arrival email which says we can arrive from midday on our day of arrival and use the facilities but we don't check in until 4pm. Is this right? And do we need to pick up our passes from somewhere at midday to let us use the pool etc. I would like to arrive at midday but don't want to find we're sitting in the car for 4 hours cos we don't have passes.
Also we have a standard apartment, does everyone find these ok? There are 6 of us so would cost a fair bit extra to upgrade but don't want to find the standard are really bad.

The standard apartments are fine - we have always had a good top floor apartment with a view over the sea.
They are basic in that they are painted white, with no side lights and not many sockets - we take a socket adaptor and fairy lights to plug in and hang over the curtain pole to give a bit more subdued lighting in an evening - also means the kids can find our apartment and don't go back to the wrong one.
You arrive at midday and park up - often you can check in much earlier than 4pm but you can not enter the apartment until 4.
There are no passes to show to enter the swimming pool. If you take your booking confirmation that would be enough - but in reality they don't ask for any id of any sort.

we've always had "standard" and the'yre fine, nothing fancy but everything you need, we only go in the chalet to sleep anyway most of the day you'll be out and about.
you don't need any passes to get anyway within the sie, it just means you can't go into your chalet until after 4pm. have a great time! x0 -
As the others have said you do not need any passes on site. Pack your swimming stuff separately and leave it on top for easy access when you get there. I always find the changeover/arrival days the best to go swimming as they tend to be emptiest on these days.
We always try to either take a picnic for lunch or eat at Burger king or similar on the first day as with going swimmimg/unpacking/checking out the site it doesn't leave much time to eat, unless one of you is not swimming and they can get the keys, open up and put some food in the oven. If you have an apartment with the electronic card keys you may be able to pick the keys up earlier and then they activate the locks at 4.
You also do not need to leave site on your leaving day until whenever you want to go. We normally go swimming again the morning and stay on site until 8 ish and travel back late.

Thanks very much, it's great to know we can also stay on site on the final day as I didn't know this. Thanks again.0

If you have never been before standard apartment will be fine. I stayed in those for years until last year I booked a silver as it was only a few quid extra - big mistake as this year I [STRIKE]needed[/STRIKE] wanted the sliver again
No need to show passes at the pool you probably wont be asked, but if you are confirmation slip will be fine.
My advise is to get there as early as possible on the Friday after the entry time and head straight for the pool, you will not find it that quiet again during the rest of your stay.
As someone else suggested eat out on the first night so you are not wasting time cooking, butlins gets very busy you really want to make the most of the quiet friday while everyone else is unpacking/settling in.0
