You are wrong again. The counter staff are powerless nowadays, and all decisions are made by computers. Then, later, the "inaccessible schizophrenic" checks some flagged successful applications at their own convenience.0

I have to agree with Grumbler here, it's a pretty poor thing to do.
It's obviously to save them employing underwriters by maximising automated automated approvals or declines.
My opinion of banks are pretty low but Barclays are already towards the bottom of that pile. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
We have no information about the length of time the account had been open, or what transactions had been processed. Getting an account opened is no guarantee that you can keep it forever.0

Natwest and RBS are notorious for this we have seen people who have opened accounts had debit cards, cheque books, pins and the card reader sent to them. Then have their account closed one week later.
As someone in there AVU (Account Verification Unit) department doesn't like something on peoples credit file. Which to me should be done long before anything is sent out to a customer.
Banks don't have to give you an account and they don't have to give you a reason for closing it, except to say they no longer want your business.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -

Correct. But I have wondered for a long time, what would happen if DC suddenly came out and said "from now on, when banks turn you down or close your account, they have to give you the detailed reason. And I'm making it law" - would this expose banks to significant additional fraud or other dishonesty? It just seems to me that banks hide behind this secret vail too often.Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0
