POPLA Appeal - how long does it normally take?

Hi

I am currently waiting to hear back about my POPLA appeal. I received the confirmation email attaching a letter advising that my appeal would be considered on or soon after 11 June.

Just wondered what peoples experiences had been in terms of time scale?!

Thanks.

Mine took place about 2 weeks after the date it said it would be considered. It purely depends how many they have to deal with, the amount of evidence submitted etc. Also, once they have made a decision they have to write it up (although I suspect there is a fair amount of repetition to this).

At the start they were well behind but in my experience they've been pretty spot on the suggested date for a while now.

You might not have heard for a couple of reasons :

    1. The PPC has failed to respond and so POPLA are just waiting for the period to time out and award in your favour by default.

    2. The decision email has gone into your junk email folder ( I've had this ).

Check you junk email and then email POPLA if you haven't had it.

Usually 5 to 6 weeks from submission. The POPLA target date (11th June in your case) can be overshot by a couple of weeks at busy times. If you've heard nothing by the end of the month I'd email them.

Just one other point - have you checked your 'Junk' file to make sure your email provider hasn't sent it there?

Have you received the evidence pack from the PPC?

Thanks for your replies, I will wait a bit longer before chasing it up. I don't think I received an evidence pack, is this supposed to come after I've submitted my appeal?! I didn't get anything other than the standard confirmation emails from POPLA. The last thing I got from parking eye was a fairly lengthy letter before I appealed explaining why my appeal was doomed to failure!

Nothing in my junk box, but I'll keep checking it over the next few days.

I wonder if PE and other PPCs are bordering on acting fraudulently in order to deceive motorists. Found this: http://www.sfo.gov.uk/fraud/sfo-confidential---giving-us-information-in-confidence/why-you-should-report-it.aspx

Surely asserting to motorists that they have no chance and it will cost them more if they take it through to the appeals committee is to force motorists to pay up so that the PPC has a financial gain = Fraud

I'd suggest PE have folded ( they nearly always do ) and POPLA are just waiting a while before cancelling by default.

As it's PE the most likely explanation is that they have not submitted an evidence pack to POPLA & that you will therefore win your appeal by default. I presume this is a crafty move on the part of PE so that the appeal will be upheld on the fact that they produced no evidence & not on the fact that the sum demanded is not a genuine pre-etsimate of loss.

Got my decision through this morning, so a week after the estimated date just in case anyone else is wondering!

I have posted on the results thread too, the decision was as follows:

    Reasons for the Assessor’s Determination

It is the Appellant’s case that the parking charge notice was issued incorrectly.
The Operator has not produced a copy of the parking charge notice, nor any evidence to show a breach of the conditions of parking occurred, nor any evidence that shows what the conditions of parking, in fact, were.

Accordingly I have no option but to allow the appeal.
