Is it any good? Worth using? Or is it another con?
I don't pay for it so no drama. It comes with N&P current account.

Are these items not already covered by your home insurance?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

You'd need to read the terms of the policy to see if it is of use for you or not.
Often these are secondary policies and so if you have another policy that covers the claim (eg Home or Travel) then they wont pay out. Likewise they tend to have fairly modest limits - ok if you use a Dell laptop bag as your briefcase but not going to cover it if its Hermes
Nothing is ever truly free, obviously you just need to balance it against other accounts out there and decide if it represents the best value for you0 -

Actually I'm not sure that you're right on the first part, I claimed for a stolen wallet after reporting the cards for cancellation, and they were not interested in what other policies I had and could have claimed on (potentially both travel as I was on holiday and home). They also covered the cash that was in the wallet, and the good thing was that there was no excess.
And the other good thing was that they allowed me to buy any wallet up to a cost of £200, even though the stolen one had cost around £25 - I bought one for £80 because if I'd paid any more I'd have been scared to ever take it out of the house.

As I said, you need to read the explicit terms and conditions. In general these are often secondary but that isnt to say that they all are. It will evidently be good for the OP if this is one of the ones that isnt0 -
There are quite a lot of benefits with the N&P sentinel cover which aren't covered with other insurance, for example the cost of a locksmith to help you gain access to your home or car if you lose your keys, and even for hiring a car, as well as the replacement of a purse / wallet (and recently drawn cash in it) as mentioned above.
These benefits also apply to anyone else in the houselhold
And their tags which offer a reward to the finder of lost keys or luggage MIGHT mean you'll get something back that you wouldn't otherwise have done.
So, considering it's free, it's definitely worth signing up for.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

The earth does not belong to us.

Are you saying that there isn't a single Sentinel Gold policy, but that the terms differ depending on who the original offer came from? Mine was through my Nationwide credit card, but I don't recall there being any mention of Nationwide in the policy, so I thought it was just a Sentinel Gold policy. Still, it's academic for me now as I decided this year not to renew it.0 -

I'm with Nationwide Home Insurance Essentials.. They cover keys loss cost, but Passport or Driving Licence are not covered. It seems Sentinel Gold doesn't cover those either unless they need to be issued in emergency ie. I get stranded abroad.
Cancelling all cards with just one phone call seems like a good idea.. if it works and all banks get notified quickly. They say they will refund costs of card misuse for periods before and after the cards got stolen/lost. That plus 200 quid for a new wallet seem to good to be true
I'm just sceptical0 -
I am new to forums and an trying to find out if my elderly parents should never have been sold sentinel and now sentinel gold. I do not have a clue how they managed to get the cover in the first instance but know it was scare tactics discussed with my late mom. They have recently done an auto renewal without notifying g my dad who is 86 and registered blind and the first he knew about it was when the bill came through on his credit card. Definately also know that they tried to cancel it a few years ago but again talk out of cancelling. Does anyone out there know anything about trying to move this forward and get sentinel to own up to scare tactics?0

Your parents can ask for call recordings, if they exist, but the uncertainty of the whole matter makes it harder to prove it was missold.0
