My boss seems to leave notes for me telling me what he wants me to do - on these notes he doesn't even say please...
It annoys me that he cannot verbally communicate my tasks with me instead.
Anyone elses boss do this?:mad::mad:

Don't do the task. Ask "what note?"
On the other hand is verbally always practical? It doesn't require you to both be free at the same time is the task is requested in writing, whereas if it's verbal, you both need to be free.0 -

"Please" is still short for "if it pleases you". If it's an instruction, not a request, it's fair enough to just state what's to be done.0 -

I would like him to speak to me about it verbally - so I know what stage of the task he has at0 -
So tell him that - not us
All sounds a bit passive aggressive -just talk to him if you think there is a better process than the current one rather than sit and seethe.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

This sounds to me to be a niggle rather than a proper issue.
If it annoys you, mention it casually.
I think you are over-reacting.0 -
Maybe you forget things that he has asked you in the past?0

I agree with the above, however I know how you feel.
I once had a boss (we shared the same office with 2 others) who would wait until we went home at night before he left little notes on our desks with jobs on.
He would also send us all e-mails asking for something - whilst we were in the same room and were sat a couple of feet away.
I remember reading that e-mails have taken away a lot of the "management" skills, as it is easier to avoid issues face to face by sending e-mails etc.0 -
People are a different - so he likes to write tasks down and give you a note.
Maybe he is an introverted person and you are quite extrovert. You would prefer a conversation and he just wants to give you a list of tasks.
If it's a real issue that is stopping you from doing your job than you need to speak to him,
But I would not take any offence to not having "please" on a note.0 -
I had a line manager who used to wait until I was away from my desk for a couple of minutes then rush over and put a full post it note of instructions on my desk. Mind you, she was trying to avoid speaking to me because she'd tried to get me sacked a few weeks earlier.0
