I have just laid new decking boards (green) went to buy decking stain at b&q and the chap said to leave them up painted for a year?
Any ideas f this is old school or based on fact..
If so, any recommendations for good quality lasting treatment and stain.
Thanks

It depends on the moisture content of the decking.
I doubt that it is "green" in the sense that it has not been dried to some extent or pressure treated.
At this time of year I would leave it for a month.
Ronseal , Rustins and Cuprinol all make good products for treating decking.Forgotten but not gone.0 -
The reason some say leave it a year is that the timber will open up and likely split, certainly the grain will lift. Don't sand this off, it gives a better entry/key for the finish.
Secondly don't go to been and queued for the finish, get a decent product. Sikkens or similar will do a decent alternative.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
