Hi,
I have had mis-sold ppi on my Barclaycard for 12 years now. They have just paid me back for the mis-sold ppi for the past 6 years only, as they say that I need statements for the 6 years prior to that before I can claim back the previous 6 years.
Is this right? Who is the owness on to prove that I was paying ppi since the Barclaycard was taken out, me or them?
What should I do next in order to claim for the other 6 years ppi?
Hope you can help!

The requirement is to refund what can be proven to have been paid. In the cases of loans, the lender has to calculate what that would have been if details no longer exist. However, for credit cards that isnt possible as you may not have paid a penny in that period. What should I do next in order to claim for the other 6 years ppi?
They have to accept copies of statements you can provide them. If you have any.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). No, it is not right for the business to compensate you only for the period for which it has records.
What they ought to do is take reasonable steps to get the information so that they can compensate you as fully as possible.
If no information is available, they should then make reasonable assumptions as to what your account might have looked like for the years where there is no documentation. They should then calculate compensation on this basis.0 -
