That's a lovely idea although it might prove to be difficult as he lives in the states - I'll have to do the preliminary stuff first and give him the websites, then I'll have to do the legwork to get the actual records, I think. This next year is going to be a pretty tough one for him as well, as it is his last year in High School before going on to Uni, but instead of taking the equivalent of A levels, he has to attain A grades in each and every one of his subjects (all of them - not just the 4 as over here) to get into the uni of his choice - so I don't know how much time he's going to have.
Ah might be a bit difficult then !2014 Target;

No idea about where to go for medals info but in regards to the wills I would say this. My mum has a beautiful ring that was her great grandmothers ring. Originally it went to her sister but when her sister died (unmarried and childless) the ring went to my mum on the proviso~spoken, never written down~ that I would receive it, as my aunt saw me as a daughter. Now, my mum has agreed that the ring should come to me, but also is considering writing a proviso into her will that says when I pass away it should go to my niece as she's currently the only girl in the family.
This irritates me beyond belief. Yes I agree it should go to a girl in the family, but I have 2 sons, I think there is a chance that at least one of them will have a daughter, so I do think that that giving things to people of this generation because you consider it to be more suitable to their sex is a little short sighted.0 -
Yes, that's annoying. It's yours if you agree to do what I say with it
I'm not even sure that is legally enforceable although it makes it morally awkward tog ive the ring to your son.
Certainly with a mney gift I think you can only express a wish as to what you would like it spent on, at the end of the day it's up to the beneficiary.Norn Iron Club member 4730
