Present for my groom

Options
Hi all,

I've seen ideas on here about boxes of things that the brides are giving their grooms such as a miniature drink for their nerves, tissues etc but I'm after a present to give him that he can keep. I know it's tradition to give a watch or cuff links but he already had these. Have you guys any other ideas?

  • I'm going for cufflinks but choosing some personalised to him. The socks are nice as well on the day - search on ebay for 'cold feet' socks.

I have got my groom personalised cufflinks and some of the cold feet socks. He is wanting to spend the night before the wedding chilling on his own (although how likely that is to happen I don't know) so I'm thinking of doing a chill hamper for him. I would REALLY like to get him a watch but don't think funds will allow so planning that for our first anniversary...

I don't see what him already having these things would matter?

I've never heard a woman say "I was going to buy some earrings, but I already have some" ;)

My wife bought me a really nice watch for our wedding and I loved it....Even though I'd already bought myself a new watch to wear on the day :)

I bought myself some cuff links too (had matching ones with the best men / groomsmen) - really like wearing them now on special occasions as they remind me of my big day (plus, they're BATMAN...and that's always cool :))

Sorry, I haven't explained myself well, I meant he already has the cuff links for the wedding.

Would he wear a bracelet or leather wristband? You can get some awesome die-stamped ones on Etsy. :)

    Hi HBS,

No he's not a jewellery kind of guy and he has quite a labour intensive job so wouldn't wear it purely for H&S reasons. He doesn't even wear a watch in case he gets it caught.

    Whens your big day? x

We gave our best men lovely skeleton pocket watches...I was quite gutted I didn't get one, actually. Quite nice, because they're not designed to be worn every day, can be worn on special occasions, are "something to keep" and you can get stands for them to use as like a small clock inbetween times.

I gave DH a sterling silver plectrum as he's a guitarist. I also gave him the cufflinks that my mum gave to my dad on their wedding day, which he wore. He bought himself a Boss watch, when he bought the diamond-set watch he gave to me for our wedding day.

I like the plectrum idea as it's personal.

The "problem" I'm finding is OH isn't fanatical about anything really. He likes football and supports a certain team and I have contacted them to see about getting something done but he isn't majorly into it like he used to be. He doesn't have any other hobbies so I really have no idea.

I even asked him if there was anything he could think of and he said "I would hate to shop for myself because I don't know what I want!"

    Hi HBS,

    Whens your big day? x

    I wish. I'm still hoping :(

I like the pocket watch idea. Or, if you don't mind something a little "silly", maybe a trophy-style plaque with your wedding date on?
