Consultation Period

I know the consultation period can be extended and extended and....

but the question is, what form of notice does the employer need to give for it being extended? After the first written notice of being at risk, can it be verbal only or does it have to be in writing with 48 hrs notice, in writing without notice....?

All the sites i have look at just say it can be extended but dont give the method.

There are no rules, until there is a decision the job is redundant and notice is given of termination it can just keep going on and on.

If you are consulting properly(it's a two way process) it will be clear that it is not complete and needs to continue or stop or people need to be put on notice.
