Help with Roof Lanterns / sky light

We're considering buying a house that has 2 roof lanterns in the kitchen extension, something like this

There's a tenant in the property at the moment and they've let us know that the sky lights are very drafty and cost a fortune in heating in the winter.
Is there anyway to fix them, or are they just one of those drafty things to put up with? I would like to fix it rather than just burning money but I have not got a clue where to start, or who to start with to figure out what to do, and importantly, what it will cost :money:
Does anyone have any advice? Thanks for any help

We've just had one fitted.
Obviously we haven't experienced winter yet( !!) but if these are modern skylights fitted properly they shouldn't be draughty as modern high tech glass is very good.
So I think you need to establish the cause of the draught - is the glazing poor or are there gaps somewhere?0 -
The type shown is a product made from the global system. It is a very good product IF .... installed correctly. There are a number of areas in its assembly that if not adhered to then you will get some wind issues.
These can be rectified quite easily .... the glass used should ideally be solar control glass and should offer good insulation qualities.0 -
I have 2 very similar to the picture, and have no drafts whatsoever!
As others suggest, it may need fitting properly!0 -
We are having one fitted to our kitchen extension as I write this! It is triple glazed so I shall be very disappointed if there is any draught! We have gone for a solar controlled glass too so fingers crossed..........0

Don't think you will have any worries with triple glazing! We thought about triple, but ended up going high-spec double in the end on advice that triple is not worth it in the UK climate.0
