acrylic splash back

Hi
Rather than tiling above a wash basin I am thinking of installing a coloured acrylic splash back.
Also one above a utility sink.
Just thinking these would look a bit better than the usual tiled area.
Anyone had experience of using acrylic in this way?
I'm thinking of just gluing them in place, or would screws be better?
Any advice would be welcome.
