I know this might be a 'swings and roundabouts' kind of question but advice gratefully received
I currently drive a 2003 Vauxhall Corsa 1.7tdi which has 45k on the clock. I've been offered a good condition, well looking after, 2007 vauxhall corsa petrol with 70k on the clock.
The question is, barring anything obvious, would you stick with the 03 tdi which is well looked after, low on miles and running well, or go for the newer model, in the hope it will last longer.
Any help, advice etc gratefully received

As you say - swings and roundabouts - BUT, personally i'd run on at your own car if its giving you no trouble. A good used diesel these days is hard to find.
Drive on until you "need" to change it0 -
id personally keep the diesel lump..Sealed pot challenger # 10
1v100 £15/3000 -
Keep the diesel.
No reason a well looked after car can't outlive the newer model - focus on looking after yours.0 -
Thanks guys. Any other advice?0

The engine will go on for a while, if you look after it. I had a Vauxhall Combo van with the 1.7 CDTi engine, did 177,000 miles in it.0

Get your car a good service and get it undercoated to keep the chassis from rusting too badly in the future.0 -

+1
Even with low miles, get an oil and filter service once a year.
Keep it well maintained - dont wait until MOT time to look at tyres, exhaust, etc, otherwise you suddenly end up with a prohibitive bill.
My dad had a 1.7 Astra and it was still going strong after 250,000 miles.0 -
Corsa diesel you say?
1.7tdi? 2003?
OohH - like my (slightly) older "51"one.
Tell you what; I'll give you £1500 for it.(Don't worry, joking.)
See, 60mpg average I get out of mine without trying on a mix of driving. (Yes, i check.)
VERY cheap to tax.
No DPF issues & it's reliable and cheap to look after.
If it's running fine .... as previous poster said, do get it undersealed (front subframes can be prone to rot) and do regular oil changes and it SHOULD last - well, probably longer than you'll want to keep it!
Mine's now on 120k after buying it "bangernomics" over 2 years ago and - although basic motoring - for straightforward "A to B" it's great.
If it matters to you, a petrol one would cost more to fuel & more to tax too in most cases. :cool:0
