Property Security

What is the best option? A house alarm or Smart Water. The cynic in me says that people will ignore a house alarm and Smart Water is probably a better option.

If the thief is too dumb to understand what smart water is, then they will still break in and steal all your stuff.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

    Personally I'd say:

Decent locks on doors, windows and any garages or sheds.
    Burglar alarm.
Lighting - both outdoor but also indoor on timers to create the illusion of occupancy.
    CCTV.

better locks than your neighbor and some gravel / flower beds under ground floor windows.

you only want your house to be a little more difficult than next doors, if you have to much security it must be worth breaking into ;-)
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

These should be low down on the list.

You need to halt burglars getting into your home. In order of priority

High quality and strong locks on all doors and windows.

A boundary fence that is difficult and noisy to climb. ie trellis on top of femces along with gauze bushes and other prickley shrubs in the flower beds adjacent to the fences. Good locks on gates are also essential.

    Security lighting.

Spend your money on stopping thieves from getting into your home is far more important than a system that is only activated once they are actually in and have done £500 worth if damage trying to get in.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
