The Golf isn't tiny and he cheapest car (in general) is the one you own. Keep the Golf for the time being would be my advice.

Drive on at what you have O/P. The golf is by no means small.

Are you sure the golf is too small? 2 child seats fit in the rear of a lot of hatches that size. It just means choosing seats/buggies carefully and not getting some stupid huge thing that takes up a ton of space.

Also investigate roof boxes as one would do for carting around extra items that won't fit in the boot if you are going on a long journey or alternatively don't go anywhere and it saves you a fortune ;)

If the golf is otherwise a good car then keep it.

I agree with the 'keep the golf, its plenty big enough for two adults and two kids' posters.

Teabelly's idea of a roof box if you need extra carrying capacity sounds sensible as well.
