PPI nationwide claim

Hello. I know this is a question that's been covered many times. I tried claiming for ppi last year from nationwide. I had it on several loans and my mortgage. I didn't even realize i'd had it. When i took out the loans & mortgage i would have quite happily sold my sole to the devil to get the deal done. I went through the usual channels, received the standard letter saying it was taking longer than expected.Eventually i got a response saying that they could find no wrong doing and i could go whistle. Totally dejected (as many of my friends and colleges were successful) i filed the paperwork somewhere only god knew where. I really thought i had binned it. I have now found it (yippee!) but the 6 months to appeal has long since passed. Is it worth pursuing this further? Am i barking up the wrong tree with nationwide? I truly believe i was mis sold it as my mortgage was for a part rent part buy property & they had no clue on setting it up . Please if anyone could put my mind at rest on this i would be very grateful.

The 6 month timebar is rigorously enforced. You are required to have serious reasons as to why you could not refer it to the FOS within that period. Such as incapacity, death of a direct family member. You also have to justify it for the whole period since the rejection and not just the first 6 months after.
Most MPPI complaints fail at both lender and the FOS. It is one of two types of PPI that are still retailed and not considered to have the same levels of problems as loan and credit card PPI. So, statistically, the odds were against you to begin with and it sounds as if your complaint wasnt that strong (given what you said about their response). So, I wouldnt be too dejected. The odds were against a successful complaint before you even started. So, being timebarred now is not much of a loss to you.I truly believe i was mis sold it as my mortgage was for a part rent part buy property & they had no clue on setting it up .I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
