NPower finally changed tariff, but backdate is months out.

My daughter moved into a flat with no gas and Economy7 electricity.

In February this year she requested a tariff change as she was on the standard tariff. 2 months later she rang to ask what was happening and was told(as others have been told) that there were milllions?? changing tariff and it would take some time, and when the change came through it would be back dated to when she put in her request.

I've just looked at her most recent bill, and they've changed the tariff, but they've only back dated it about 10 days.....not the 3 months that it should be.

Before we complain to NPower about this, I was wondering if others had noticed this, and in fact, it was a deliberate ploy by NPower, on a large scale, to steal from their customers, and if it is, get NPower up in front of the powers that be..........again.
Couponing....."every little hurts"

I doubt NPower could do anything deliberately, the Americans have a term for a disaster such as NPower's billing system - it is a cluster!!!! :o

She needs to WRITE (don't bother phoning / e-mailing, waste of energy) a proper letter headed COMPLAINT setting out what she wants them to do with the billing and be prepared to take it to the ombudsman.

No, I've not noticed this. (nor do I worry about it at 1.30 in the morning ;))

Tariff changes usually can be processed & activated whilst on the phone.
(It's switching supplier that takes time)
Tariff changes can be delayed if, for example, you wish to move to a new tariff (rather than the tariff they have advised you will move to) when an existing deal expires. But again this is usually set up whilst on the phone, and occurs automatically on the required date.

I'm sure a quick phone call will sort out the issue.
But if not, follow the suppliers complaint procedure.

The Energy companies seem to get fined for lots of things that "look" deliberate. I wondered if other NPower customers who had changed tariffs, had noticed any difference in the date they requested the change, and the date it was actually implemented.

Did I say we were worrying about it....and I've got better things to be doing daily at 12.45pm than going online to make sarcastic remarks......Get a life.

Its the back dating of the lower priced tariff that is the concern, not the delay in changing tariff!!
